About Stendal

Stendal is a town of 40,000 people located in the history-rich Altmark region of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, west of Berlin and east of Wolfsburg. Its geographical position provides good rail links directly to Berlin (50 minutes), Wolfsburg (30 minutes) and even as far afield as Amsterdam (5.5 hours). The capital of Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg, is also only 40 minutes by train. Large urban centres and shopping opportunities are therefore always available and within reach, and when in Stendal you can sit back, relax and enjoy the local cafes, pubs, bakeries and restaurants. You will also be able to venture out into the countryside and neighbouring towns with ease, providing rivers, forests and lakes as yet another place to unwind. In this green region of peace and tranquillity, a variety of festivities take place throughout the year, so you can always remain busy should you desire. The three-day-long Rolandfest in June brings Stendal’s town centre truly alive with a variety of music, performances and more all day and night. In the neighbouring imperial town of Tangermünde, there is also Burgfest in September, when the banks of the Elbe and the old town centre provide a celebration of Charles IV and events culminating in fireworks.
